Eggs

Well a while back mom and dad bought 18 chickens and have them housed at some ward members backyard where they are zoned for horses and chickens. Well 4 of them died and the rest have been doing fantastic. These chickens are egg laying chickens. The "Girls" is what we call them, chickens are older now about 9 months and you guessed they are laying eggs like crazy. You would think they thought it was Easter! Brown eggs, green eggs, and white eggs. This past weekend they layed over 3 1/2 dozen eggs. I am having an egg for dinner tonight and OH MY Gosh are they fantastic! The yokes are this rich dark yellow and orange color. I will post pictures soon! Mom and Dad are so excited! It is so cute to see them so excited about this. Watch for pictures!

I can't wait for the pictures! I love your new look. So springy! What about meatloaf? tortilla soup? rice bowls? 50's burgers and hotdogs? quiche?

Kevin & Jodi used to have chickens. I have to agree, the eggs are fab-u-lous. So fun for your parents.

Thank them for thinking of us when they got the RHODE ISLAND Reds! HA!HA! We can go to the farm 365 days a year and get them fresh! Yes, they are delicious. Isn't it so cute to see mom and dad so excited?

Love ya!

Thanks for blogging about the chickens and their eggs. It is so much fun but we sure wished that we could have our little girls here at our home, but we are not zoned to have farm animals here. Someday maybe we will be able to have a place to raise more chickens. Dad wants to have a place in Midway and raise lots and lots of chickens. His mind just keep dreaming of all these projects. Having a big garden, a place for all the great granchildren to play, and chickens all kinds and sell eggs to everyone.
